Quality Control Quality Assurance 2008

First Quarter

A modern distillation unit was shipped to Kigali for use in our project. We anticipate that this new distillation unit will reach us and become operational in Quarter 2.

During this quarter, Ikirezi Natural Products is continuing the process of Fair Trade certification.

Nicholas Hitimana (Managing Director of Ikirezi as well as ASNAPP-Rwanda Country Director) accompanied the visiting team from Rutgers University including Jim Simon, Ramu Govindasamy and Rodolfo Juliani to Nairobi in order to contact potential partners and funders. Meetings were held at ICIPE (International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology), ELCI (Environment Liaison Centre International), KOAN (Kenya Organic Agricultural Network), UNIVERSAL (a pharmaceutical company) and Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa where the team met with Dr Akinwumi Adesina, the Vice-President in charge of policy and partnerships.

Second Quarter

A cooperative of 600 farmers has been trained on equity and transparency in dealing with cooperative assets. Significant expansion in the actual land area of geranium cultivation has been developed to increase the supply of geranium oil availability.
