First and Second Quarter

Hibiscus capsules removal tools (1000) and 5,000 sacs 95x55 cm were distributed to the growers. The 10 tons of hibiscus seeds ordered by the Government last year are paid for by Ministry of Agric: a 25 million FCFA check was issued for the benefit of ASNAPP/AES.

Christian Poirier has been working with ASNAPP-Senegal and Rutgers from the USA on Fair Trade certification of two partner cooperatives. He will re-join the ASNAPP-Senegal staff at the beginning of Quarter 2.

The hibiscus organic certification renewal process with CERTISYS has begun.

Rutgers and ASNAPP-Senegal have been collaborating IRGs program, USAID Economic Growth Program, in the strengthening of the hibiscus sector in Senegal (under their Accelerated growth and Increased Competitiveness Program.
