ASNAPP is working with Elim to expand the rooibos production in that community. The number of production sites has increased from the initial two to nine. Shell Foundation will support the expansion projects.
A total of 200,000 honeybush seedlings have been produced at Haarlem in preparation for cultivation. The community continues to receive nursery management training from ASNAPP.
Haarlem has obtained Ecocert Certification for organic honeybush tea. Due to this, Pick ‘n Pay is partnering the community to develop a special organic brand specific to Haarlem and marketed in their chain of supermarkets from May 1 2008.
